Baby Bombers blast past Lake Monsters

Staten Island, NY - August 26th - The Baby Bombers blasted past the Vermont Lake Monsters on Monday night 9-0 after hitting three home runs.

With two outs in the third, Eric Jagielo hit a three-run home run over the right field wall. Abiatal Avelino and Mike O'Neill both scored on the play after Avelino singled and O'Neill walked.

The Yankees extended their lead in the following frame when Trent Garrison hit a one-out solo shot to right to make it 4-0.

O'Neill led off the bottom of the seventh with a single to left before Jagielo doubled. Yeicok Calderon then reached on a fielding error by first baseman Ryan Huck to score O'Neill. Up next, Kale Sumner singled on a ground ball to left, plating Jagielo. After Bubba Jones grounded out to third, Trent Garrison took a 3-1 pitch over the left field wall to give Staten Island a nine-run advantage.

Philip Walby earned his third win after tossing 3.0 scoreless innings of relief. He walked three and struck out five.

The Yankees will take on the Lake Monsters again at home tomorrow at 7:00PM. RHP Andrew Benak (2-3, 6.61 ERA) is scheduled to get the start for Staten Island, while RHP Lee Sosa (1-3,(1-3, 3.44 ERA) is expected to toe the mound for Vermont.
