O'Neill knocks in winning run against Spinners

Staten Island, NY - August 10th - Stefan Lopez closed out the game to earn his second save of the season, after Mike O'Neill knocked in the Yankees' lone run in a 1-0 victory over the Lowell Spinners on Saturday night.

Lowell starter Ty Buttrey retired the first seven Yankee batters in order before allowing back-to-back singles to Bubba Jones and Trent Garrison. Up next, Derek Toadvine flew out to left. Mike O'Neill then doubled on a line drive to left to plate Jones and give Staten Island a 1-0 lead.

Buttrey gave up a leadoff single in the first to Forrestt Allday, before Tzu-Wei Lin reached on a fielder's choice. After that, the Spinner did not have another hit until the fifth when Carlos Asuaje doubled off reliever Simon Mercedes.

Sam Agnew-Wieland earned his first win after tossing 3.0 scoreless innings of relief. He allowed one hit and struck out one batter. Buttrey suffered the loss after throwing 4.0 innings and giving up just the one Yankee run.

Stefan Lopez picked up his second save after pitching the last 3.0 frames. He allowed no hits, no walks, and fanned six.

The Yankees will take on the Lowell Spinners again tomorrow at 4:00PM at Richmond County Bank Ballpark. RHP Rookie Davis (2-2, 2.48 ERA) will toe the mound for the Yankees, while RHP Jamie Callahan (3-1, 3.99 ERA) is expected to get the ball for the Spinners.
