Yankees shut out by Cyclones

Staten Island, NY - July 26th - Yankees' starting pitcher Conner Kendrick allowed just two runs; however, Staten Island was shut out 2-0 by the Brooklyn Cyclones on Friday night.

Both teams remained scoreless until the third. Kendrick struck out the side, but not before giving up a solo home run to Cyclones' catcher Eddie Rohan.

Brooklyn then extended their lead in the fifth when Rohan doubled on a fly ball to right field to score Alex Sanchez. Sanchez hit a one-out ground ball single to left to reach base.

Kendrick suffered his second loss after tossing 5.0 innings and allowing two earned runs off four hits with a walk and five strikeouts. Dillon McNamara then threw 2.0 innings of scoreless relief before Charles Haslup came into the game in the eighth.

Cyclones' starter Robert Gsellman earned his first win after throwing 7.0 scoreless innings. Gsellman gave up just two hits, walked none, and fanned five batters. Ricky Knapp - who came in to pitch the last two frames - picked up his first save.

The Yankees will take on the Brooklyn Cyclones again tomorrow at home. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00PM. RHP Rookie Davis (2-2, 2.89 ERA) will toe the mound for the Yankees, while RHP Miller Diaz (2-1, 2.37 ERA) is expected to get the ball for the Cyclones.
