SAN JOSE - Mac Williamson homered for the second straight game and Ty Blach tossed five innings of effective long relief to lead the San Jose Giants to a 5-3 win over the Stockton Ports on Sunday afternoon at Municipal Stadium. With the victory, San Jose takes three out of four games in the series and improves their overall record to a league-best 49-32.

Williamson (2-for-4, 2B, HR, RBI) doubled and hit his 12th home run of the season to lead the Giants offensive attack on Sunday. Skyler Stromsmoe (2-for-3), Myles Schroder (2-for-4, 2B) and Shawn Payne (2-for-4, 2B, RBI) also finished with two hits apiece.

San Francisco Giant Santiago Casilla started on the mound for San Jose in the first outing of his rehabilitation assignment. Casilla pitched the first inning and allowed one run on two hits. He struck out one batter and threw 15 total pitches. Santiago's younger brother, Jose, then pitched a scoreless top of the second inning out of the bullpen. Jose pitched around a leadoff single inducing a double play to keep the Ports off the scoreboard.

The game was tied 1-1 entering the bottom of the second when Bobby Haney started a run-scoring rally with a one-out single. Payne followed with a double down the right field line to put runners at second and third before Eliezer Zambrano's sacrifice fly gave the Giants a 2-1 lead. Two batters later, Kelby Tomlinson delivered an RBI single to make it 3-1.

The teams traded home runs in the third as Stockton's Bobby Crocker connected for a solo shot in the top of the inning off of Blach. However, Williamson then drove the first pitch of the bottom half of the inning over the fence in left center for a solo home run and a 4-2 San Jose advantage.

The Giants extended their lead to 5-2 in the bottom of the sixth when Schroder led off with a single, stole second, advanced to third when the throw from the catcher Bruce Maxwell sailed into center field for an error and then scored on Payne's one-out single.

Meanwhile, Blach, who entered the game to begin the top of the third, retired eight straight Ports hitters after allowing the home run to Crocker. Blach then pitched around a leadoff single from Crocker in the top of the sixth to keep the score at 5-2.

In the seventh, B.A. Vollmuth led off with a double and immediately scored when the next batter, Myrio Richard, lined a single into center. Richard's RBI single cut the San Jose lead to 5-3, but the Ports wouldn't manage another hit for the remainder of the contest. Blach promptly picked-off Richard at first and then set down the next two batters to end the inning.

Bryce Bandilla (1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 0 SO) issued a leadoff walk to Maxwell in the top of the eighth, but with the potential tying run at the plate, retired the next three hitters to maintain the 5-3 lead.

In the top of the ninth, Josh Osich (1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 0 SO) needed just eight pitches to work a 1-2-3 inning. The game ended when Richard's shallow fly ball was caught by a sliding Williamson in right field.

Blach (8-3) was credited with the win after allowing two runs (both earned) on four hits in five innings out of the bullpen. He struck out three and walked none. Osich earned his 12th save of the year.

Stockton starter James Simmons (5-3) surrendered five runs (all earned) on nine hits in 5 1/3 innings to take the loss.

Both teams scored one run in the first inning. Facing Santiago Casilla, Crocker started the game with a single before stealing second base. Addison Russell then blooped a single into shallow right center to move Crocker to third. After Russell stole second, a Max Muncy sacrifice fly gave the Ports a 1-0 lead. Casilla then struck out Vollmuth and retired Richard on a groundout to strand Russell at third base.

In the bottom of the first, Skyler Stromsmoe led off with a single, stole second, moved to third on a wild throw from Maxwell and scored on Brock Bond's sacrifice fly. The Giants then took the lead for good the following inning.
