Vote Gigante Best Mascot in MiLB.com MASCOT MANIA

SAN JOSE, CA- MiLB.com, the official website of Minor League BaseballTM, launched their second MiLB.com Mascot Mania today, an interactive tournament allowing fans to choose the best mascot in each league and in all of Minor League Baseball. San Jose Giants mascot Gigante is a part of the tournament and needs your votes in order to be named this year's "Best Mascot in Minor League Baseball".

"Mascot Mania is a great way for our fans to show everyone that Gigante is not only the best mascot in the California League, but also in all of Minor League Baseball," said Juliana Paoli, San Jose Giants Chief Marketing Officer. "I'm excited that this year our fans can vote not only an unlimited number of times online, but also up to 25 times per day on Twitter. Together, let's show Minor League Baseball what our fans already know, that Gigante is truly the best!"

In the first round, Gigante is in the California League mascots group. He needs to receive the most votes among the California League mascots to move on to the second round and compete for the title of "Best Mascot in Minor League Baseball". Voting for Round One starts today and runs through 9:00 AM PST Thursday, August 1. Mascots that receive the most votes in their respective leagues will move onto the second round and compete for the fans' choice as the "Best Mascot in Minor League Baseball". Fans can cast their vote now at www.milb.com/mascotmania.

The schedule for voting is as follows:

First round: Thursday, July 18 through 9:00 AM PST Thursday, August 1

Second round: 9:00 AM PST Thursday, August 1 through 9:00 AM PST Thursday, August 8

How to vote:

  1. Online - Fans can see photos, video and information on all 160 mascots and vote for their favorite by clicking here. Fans will have the ability to vote an unlimited number of times through the online ballot. This means fans can vote for Gigante as many times as they please! Fans can also enter the MiLB.com Mascot Mania Sweepstakes by clicking here for a chance to win a variety of prizes, including subscriptions to MLB.TV and MiLB.TV, in addition to mascot-themed prize packs.
  2. Twitter - This year, fans can also vote for Gigante via Twitter by following @MiLB, tweeting the hashtag #MascotMania and including @SJGiants in the tweet. Retweets count as well, so fans should keep an eye out for tweets about Gigante and retweet

Gigante needs your votes in order to win! Be sure to start voting today so that he can campaign and bring the title of "Best Mascot in the Minor League Baseball" to San Jose.
