Kole Calhoun Joins Salt Lake on Rehab Assignment

May 17, 2014

SALT LAKE CITY (May 16, 2014) - The Los Angeles Angels announced today that the former Salt Lake outfielder Kole Calhoun will join the Bees for a rehab assignment. Calhoun is expected to be in the Bees lineup tonight as the Bees continue their road series against the Reno Aces and is currently scheduled to be with the team when they return to Smith's Ballpark on Monday.

Calhoun played in Salt Lake during the 2012 and 2013 seasons. He owns a .318 career average with 26 home runs and 112 RBIs in a Bees uniform. His walk-off grand slam against Tacoma on the Fourth of July last season was named one of the top 20 moments in franchise history by Bees radio broadcaster Steve Klauke.

The former Arizona State star hit .250 for the Angels over the first 14 games of the season with three home runs, four doubles and six RBIs. Before his injury Calhoun was primarily serving as the leadoff hitter for the Halos. Calhoun suffered a right ankle sprain against Oakland on April 15.

The Bees return to Smith's Ballpark on Monday, May 19 to begin an eight-game homestand against Albuquerque and Fresno. On Tuesday, May 20 the team will host the annual Prevention Dimensions Kids' Day that will see more than 10,000 elementary school students attend a game during a special 10:35 start. On Saturday, May 24 the Bees will honor our armed forces with Military Appreciation Night. All military personnel with a military ID will be given free admission by presenting their ID at the Smith's Ballpark box office. Tickets for all games are available with no online fees at slbees.com
