Blue Jays club 6 doubles, 2 homers to beat Mets 7-4

DUNEDIN, Fla. (June 5, 2014) - The Dunedin Blue Jays came from behind to score the last five runs of the ballgame and beat the St. Lucie Mets 7-4 on Thursday at Auto Exchange Stadium.

Jairo Perez broke a brief 2-2 tie in the top of the sixth with a two-run home run, but the Blue Jays roared back in their half of the sixth. Marcus Knecht belted a leadoff double against Matt Koch and K.C. Hobson followed with a home run to tie the game.

The hits kept on coming. Christian Lopes doubled and Kevin Patterson chased Koch from the game with another double, the sixth of the game off of Koch, to plate Lopes and put the Blue Jays up 5-4.

Emilio Guerrero provided a couple of insurance runs with a two-run homer off of Chase Huchingson in the eighth.

The Mets pounded out 12 hits. However, they hit into five double plays, including three that ended the first three innings.

Efrain Nieves pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings of relief to earn his first win. Danny Barnes retired the side in order in the ninth to earn the win.

Koch was tagged for nine hits and five earned run in five innings. After winning five straight starts, he has lost his last two.

Perez's home run was his team-leading seventh of the season.

Eudy Pina put the Mets on the board first with an RBI single in the second. Gustavo Pierre put the Blue Jays ahead in the bottom of the second with a two-run double.

Pina tied the game when he blasted a solo home run off of starter Ben White in the fifth.

Pina went 2 for 3 and also walked.

T.J. Rivera had a 3 for 4 night for the Mets.

Paul Sewald pitched two scoreless innings of relief for St. Lucie and lowered his ERA to 1.08.
