Mets hang on to beat Cardinals 4-3

JUPITER, Fla. (September 2, 2017) - The St. Lucie Mets hung on to beat the Palm Beach Cardinals 4-3 at Roger Dean Stadium on Saturday.
 
The Mets went 3 for 18 with runners in scoring position, which turned out to be just enough to get the victory in their penultimate game.
 
Nick Sergakis punched a two-run double over the first base bag in the first inning to put the Mets up 2-0.
 
St. Lucie held a 2-1 lead in the fifth when Colby Woodmansee ripped two-out RBI single to left for a 3-1 lead. Later in the inning Enmanuel Zabala clubbed a RBI double to put the Mets ahead 4-1.
 
The Cardinals chipped away with a run in the bottom of the fifth and another in the seventh. Johnny Magliozzi kept the Mets in front when he got Vince Jackson in a rundown between second and third base to end the seventh.
 
Magliozzi continued his good work with a scoreless eighth.
 
Gerson Bautista struck out two in a perfect ninth for his fifth save in five chances.
 
Mets starter Nabil Crismatt ended the season on a winning note. He pitched five innings and allowed one earned run while striking out five. He finishes the season with 142 strikeouts, which will end up tops in the FSL in 2017.
 
Sergakis went 3 for 5. Jacob Zanon, Wuilmer Becerra and Jose Garcia and Zabala had two hits apiece. Zanon extended his hitting streak to nine games.
 
The Mets (62-75, 29-40) and Cardinals (74-59, 34-32) conclude the regular season on Sunday morning at Roger Dean Stadium. First pitch is 10:30 a.m.
