Mets Name Ballpark Tradition Field

February 7, 2013

The New York Mets today announced that they have resumed their partnership with Tradition Florida for the naming rights to their Spring Training home in Port St. Lucie. The ballpark will once again be called Tradition Field, the park's name from 2004-2009.

"We are pleased to resume our partnership with Tradition Florida," said Mets COO Jeff Wilpon. "The iconic name is familiar to Treasure Coast residents and Mets fans."

"When people think about St. Lucie County and Port St. Lucie, the tradition of New York Mets spring training baseball comes to mind," said Tradition Florida's General Manager Jim Anderson. "We are proud to return the Tradition Field name to one of the finest baseball facilities in Florida, in the County and City that we are proud to call home. It is only appropriate that two of the area's most recognized brands are partners once again. This is an opportunity to affirm our long-term commitment to the community and it is reflective of the bright future we see for Tradition Florida and Florida's Treasure Coast. We are excited to continue the development and job creation in our region."

The Mets Spring Training home underwent a massive expansion in 2012. The right field seating area was converted into an outdoor hospitality space that connects the main stadium to the outfield grass berm area for easy access. The scoreboard was upgraded to include a larger screen and HD video capability.

The Tiki Bar and tiered tables on the third base side have become one of the most popular gathering spots at the facility. Fans of all ages have long enjoyed watching Mets Spring Training games and Florida State League contests from the outfield grass berm.

Located just five miles from the ballpark, Tradition Florida is an 8,200 acre master planned community that is designed around the region's largest network of parks and open green space. Tradition Florida has earned the reputation as the premier residential and business destination in Florida's Treasure Coast. Tradition Florida is home to nearly 5,000 residents, anchored shopping centers, an existing charter school, with another one on the way and a medical center rising up around the burgeoning life sciences research center in the Tradition Center for Innovation.

The naming rights agreement will be on the agenda in a special meeting of the Board of County Commissioners on Friday, February 8, in a vote for final approval.
