Mets toss two-hit shutout in 1-0 win over Dunedin

Rosario triples, scores lone run

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (April 12, 2016) - Casey Delgado made a stellar Florida State League debut and Amed Rosario scored the game's lone run as the St. Lucie Mets blanked the Dunedin Blue Jays 1-0 on Tuesday at Tradition Field.

Delgado, the sixth starter in the six-man rotation, allowed just two singles over six impressive innings. He stranded four runners in scoring position over the first three innings, then went into cruise control by retiring 10 of the last 11 batters he faced.

Delgado walked three and struck out five.

Amed Rosario started the sixth with a triple to the left-center gap off of Conner Greene. Short stop Richard Urena's late relay throw to third sailed into the Mets dugout and Rosario was awarded home.

The Mets bullpen took over from there. Alberto Baldonado tossed 1.2 hitless innings and Corey Taylor retired all four batters he faced for his first professional save.

Defensively, Patrick Biondi and Kevin Taylor made two-game saving catches in the eighth. Biondi tracked down a fly ball to deep right-center field with a runner on first base. Taylor snagged a liner at first base that was headed down the line and potentially plating a run.

The Blue Jays did not produce a hit after the first batter of the second inning.

Notes: On his birthday, Tomas Nido singled to extend his hitting streak to five games…John Mora dropped down a bunt single to stretch his hitting streak to six games…the Mets improved to 3-1 in one-run games…The Mets snapped a four-game home losing streak to Dunedin…The Blue Jays have just seven hits in the first two games of the series…The Mets did not turn a double play for the first time this season.

Next Up: The Mets (4-2, 2nd FSL South) and Dunedin (3-3) play the third game of the series on Wednesday at Tradition Field. First pitch is 6:30 p.m.
