Miracle Defeat Mets 11-8
The Fort Myers Miracle rallied past the Mets for an 11-8 victory in the series opener at Tradition Field on Thursday.
The Mets trailed 7-2 entering the bottom of the third, before scoring five times to tie the score. Matt Reynolds had a two-run home run to start the rally. Charley Thurber had an RBI single to cut the deficit to 7-5. Gilbert Gomez had a game-tying two-run single to left.
Aderlin Rodriguez hit a solo home run to left in the fourth inning to give the Mets an 8-7 lead.
Jim Fuller tossed three scoreless innings in relief. Wanel Mesa was charged with the loss as he allowed a go-ahead two-run double to Kennys Vargas in the seventh inning. Hamilton Bennett allowed one run in the eighth and Randy Fontanez gave up one run in the ninth.
Noah Syndergaard allowed a career-high seven runs and eight hits over three innings.
The Mets will host the Miracle on Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Tradition Field. Angel Cuan is the scheduled starter for the Mets.
