Jackson, TN- Tennessee has been used to delivering the walkoffs in recent weeks, but tonight it was the Generals who kept responding to the Smokies punches in a 6-5 victory.
Jen Ho-Tseng helped out his own cause in the third inning, singling with two outs and keeping the inning alive. Charcer Burks, Andrew Ely, David Bote and Jason Vosler followed to cap off a five hit, three run rally with two outs in the inning. Jason Vosler's RBI was his 42nd of the season, which upped his RBI lead in the Southern League, before the Generals Kevin Cron would tie up the battle in the bottom of the frame.
The Generals would tally three runs in the bottom of the inning off Jen-Ho Tseng, and would add in another run on a throwing error by Tseng in the bottom of the fourth. Tseng would total six innings of four hit, three run baseball in the no-decision. A David Bote RBI single in the fifth inning would tie the game, which stayed that way into the eighth.
The eighth inning began as one to forget for Jackson. After retiring David Bote to begin the inning, Jason Vosler singled and Yasiel Balaguert walked. Cael Brockmeyer then reached base on a fielding error, followed by a run scoring wild pitch giving Tennessee the lead. The Smokies had two on with one out and failed to bring them in after consecutive groundouts.
The lead was short lived. Dawel Lugo homered to lead off the bottom of the eighth giving the Generals new life. A walk and a balk for the Generals put David Garner in a tough spot to leadoff the ninth inning, and the Generals capitalized. Rudy Flores would single home Raymel Flores, which gave Jackson the series tying win.
Tennessee and Jackson will conclude their series tomorrow at 7:05 ET
