Beloit Breaks 7 Game Losing Streak

April 17, 2014

BELOIT, WI- The Snappers have started off their three game home series against the Lansing Lugnuts with a much needed win by a score of 7-2. Before tonight's victory, Beloit had lost seven games in a row and hadn't won since April 10th. The Lugnuts and the Snappers have somewhat traded places with the fact that Beloit has just put an end to their seven game losing streak and Lansing is now on a losing streak of the same amount of games.

The starting pitcher for Beloit, Kyle Finnegan, had an impressive performance. Finnegan pitched 7 innings and only allowed 5 hits. He goes to 1-0 on the season and finished the night with a 1.59 ERA.

The Snappers looked to have finally found somewhat of a rhythm offensively. Tonight was the first multi-homer game for Beloit with bombs from BJ Boyd and Michael Soto. Both homeruns were the first of the season for Boyd and Soto.

Lansing's starting pitcher, Jeremy Gabryszwski, had a rough night. He had 6 IP with 4 earned runs while surrendering two homeruns. Gabryszwski finished the night with a 5.17 ERA and goes to 0-2 on the season.

The Lugnuts were up 1-0 in the 3rd inning before BJ Boyd showed the power that he is capable of by crushing the ball on a line drive over the center field fence, which also scored Boog Powell, putting the Snappers up 2-1.

Beloit just kept on adding onto their lead by scoring a run in the 5th inning and three more in the 6th when Chih-Fang Pan drove in Jaycob Brugman. Next at bat, Michael Soto hit his first homer of the year with a fly ball to left field that drove in Pan. After Soto's homerun the score was 6-1.

Lansing ended up scoring one more run in the 7th when Santiago Nessy singled to centerfield to score Mitch Nay but their comeback dreams were cut short. The Snappers scored one more run to get to the final score of the game, 7-2.

Now, the Snappers hope to get a winning streak going as they face the Lansing Lugnuts again at Pohlman Field tomorrow night at 6:30pm. Listen to the game live on The Big AM 1380 or www.espn1380.com. Buy your tickets at the Snappers front office or online at www.snappersbaseball.com.
