Burlington 3 Beloit 1 - Thursday
WP: Castillo (1-1)
LP: Damron (0-2)
S: De Los Santos (1)
Thursday's homestand opener at Pohlman Field saw Beloit's offense sputter again. Opposing pitchers had held Beloit scoreless in 25 consecutive innings beginning in the seventh inning Tuesday at Kane County carrying all the way to the sixth frame Thursday. The Snappers plated their only run of the night on a sac fly from Nate Mondou to bring around Luke Persico. Persico led off the inning with a single and Trace Loehr moved him over to third on a single of his own.
Burlington created some space by adding two runs with two outs in the fifth, which turned out to be the difference in the game. Juan Moreno started the rally with a double followed by singles from Josh Merrigan and Brennon Lund. The win for the Bees snapped a three-game losing skid.
Snappers pitchers once again racked up double-digit strikeouts (11) for the eighth game in a row. Brendan Butler finished the game with four hitless innings. Butler has only surrendered two base hits over his last 12.1 innings of work. Kyle Nowlin went 2-for-4 with a double to give the Snappers at least one extra-base knock for the 13th consecutive game.
