August 31, 2014

BELOIT, Wisc - Nate Freiman, who just got assigned to Beloit for the remaining three games of the Snappers schedule, came up huge tonight in a Snappers 6-2 victory over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers on Fan Appreciation Night.

Freiman is a big guy who stands at six feet and eight inches tall. He has also spent some time at the big league level this season with the Oakland A's and his first game with the Snappers was also very big. He ended up going 3-for-5 with a two run homer in the fifth inning that cleared the scoreboard in left field in his first game with the Snappers.

Michael Soto also helped Beloit out offensively when he hit a two run homer, his sixth of the season, on a line drive to left field in the bottom of the second inning. Melvin Mercedes also chipped in with two RBI.

The only offense that came from the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers was in the sixth inning when Taylor Brennan hit a two run homer to put them on the board.

Joey Wagman, the former Rockford Aviator, got the win for the Snappers while Javier Salas gets the loss for the Timber Rattlers. Wagman improves his record to 2-2. He ended his night with 5.2 innings pitched while giving up five hits and one earned run.

Sam Roberts and Joel Seddon pitched well in relief for Beloit. Roberts pitched 2.1 innings and allowed one hit, a two run homer. Seddon closed the game and pitched one inning while giving up no hits.
