Kane County 8 Beloit 5 - Monday, Game 1
WP: McWilliams (4-1)
LP: Jordan (1-2)
S: Mark (3)
Time: 2:08
Kane County piled up seven runs in the top of the first inning of game one, but Beloit made it a game late. Kane County led 8-1 after three innings before the Snappers brought home a pair in each the fourth and fifth innings. Beloit entered play 14-1 when scoring five runs or more with the other defeat occurring on May 5 vs. Bowling Green as the Snappers lost 7-6.
The Cougars started the game with three straight singles and a walk scored the first run of the game. Manny Jefferson, Paxton De La Garza, and Luis Basabe all connected on RBI doubles in that first frame. Those seven runs off Snappers starter Mitchell Jordan were the most Beloit has allowed in one inning this season.
Xavier Altamirano threw four brilliant innings in relief to finish the game. Altamirano shut out the Cougars and allowed just one hit while striking out five. All eight Kane County runs were charged to Mitchell Jordan as Sam McWilliams countered with six serviceable innings for the Cougars. Miguel Mercedes paced the Beloit offense with a pair of his and two RBI.
