BELOIT, WI - The annual "Meet the Snappers" event will take place April 4, 2017, the Beloit Snappers announced Monday. This year's meet and greet will take place once again at Beloit Memorial High School (1225 Fourth Street, Beloit). Doors will open up to the public at 5:30 p.m. and the event will run until 7 p.m.
Headlining this season's event will be new Snappers manager Scott Steinmann. Steinmann spent 20 years in the Seattle Mariners organization as a player and coach. He brings nine seasons of managerial experience to Beloit, most recently with the Clinton LumberKings of the Midwest League in 2015.
"I'm excited to introduce Scott as our new manager," says Snappers General Manager Seth Flolid. "His experience as a coach and understanding of the community aspect of Minor League Baseball will both benefit the Snappers this season."
Though the team is unsure exactly who will be suiting up for Beloit once Opening Day rolls around, this will be the community's first opportunity to be up close and personal with the 2017 team. Players will also be available for autographs. The Snappers coaching and front office staffs will join the players at the event.
"This is always such a great event," states Flolid. "For a lot of our fans, the interest in the players themselves is as important as their performance on the field."
Tickets to "Meet the Snappers" will be $5 per person and kids ages 4 and under can get in free. Tickets can be purchased in advance through the Snappers via phone at (608) 362-2272 or in person at Pohlman Field (2301 Skyline Drive, Beloit). New team merchandise will be available to purchase at the 2017 "Meet the Snappers" event. The menu for the evening will be traditional ballpark fare.
The Beloit Snappers are a member of the Midwest League and have been the Single-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics since 2013. Opening Day for the Snappers 36th season is April 6, 2017 at Pohlman Field as the Snappers host the Cedar Rapids Kernels. Tickets for Opening Day are quite the steal!
