The Snappers claimed another series victory with a second straight win at Dow Diamond, 7-1, over Great Lakes. Beloit has won all four series in Eastern Division ballparks this season and have outscored Fort Wayne, Lake County, Lansing, and Great Lakes by a combined score of 69-38 in 11 games. The Snappers have now won five of their last six and are 31-7 when they score five runs or more.
Zack Erwin ran his scoreless streak up to 11 innings with five scoreless frames on Sunday using 75 pitches. The southpaw tossed six innings in his last start without allowing a run to pass. For the third straight appearance, Erwin reached 7 strikeouts and also retired his final 11 batters on Sunday. Mitchell Jordan tossed two scoreless innings in relief and John Gorman wrapped up the game on the mound, but he allowed a solo homer to Mitchell Hansen for the Loons' lone run. The pitching staff fanned 15 Loons on Sunday, the 40th time this year Beloit pitchers have touched double digit strikeouts this year.
Eric Mariñez put the Snappers on the board with a two-run double in the third inning. Beloit extended their lead with RBI singles by Trace Loehr, Mike Martin, Jesus Lopez, and Miguel Mercedes in the seventh, eighth, and ninth. Loehr recorded a fourth multi-hit game on the road trip with a 2-for-4 performance. Marinez had a third straight game with more than one hit after a 3-for-5 game while Lopez has delivered multiple knocks in three of his four games since joining the Snappers.
