A pair of Milwaukee Brewers on rehab assignment with the Timber Rattlers boosted Wisconsin past the Snappers to open Beloit's final road series of the season. Left-handed pitcher Brent Suter threw three scoreless innings that included a five-pitch first frame. Rehabbing catcher Andrew Susac homered off Snappers starter Seth Martinez in the bottom of the first, a two-run blast after Trevor Morrison was hit by a pitch.
The Snappers offense was limited to just four singles in their 13th shutout defeat of 2017. Beloit had just two runners reach scoring position in the Timber Rattlers dominant pitching performance. Jesus Lopez got to second with two outs against Suter when he singled and Edwin Diaz advanced him up to two stations from home. JaVon Shelby had the only hit of the night off Andrew Houser to break a streak of 10 straight Snappers send back to the bench. Shelby got to second on a wild pitch and reached third on a groundout for out number two, but he did not score.
Kyle Nowlin's 19-game on-base streak came to an end while the game ended with him on deck in the ninth, and the Snappers went down 1-2-3 against Miguel Sanchez. Martinez shouldered the loss in his fifth straight start as the offense has given him only two runs of support in four of his last five starting assignments. The Snappers middle infield combination of Jesus Lopez and Edwin Diaz made a highlight reel caliber play up the middle in the fourth. Lopez, playing second, backhanded a ball and flipped the ball from his glove to the shortstop, Diaz, to complete the throw to first base and retire the batter Mitch Ghelfi. Wisconsin outfielder Demi Orimoloye was 2-for-3 with a sixth inning RBI.
