Beloit held a 3-2 lead after seven innings, but Quad Cities scored three unearned runs in the eighth and ninth innings to take the final game of the First Half. The loss is just the second time this season the Snappers squandered a lead after the seventh inning. The Snappers completed the first portion of the schedule losing 11 of their last 14 games.
Eric Mariñez hit a go-ahead RBI single for the Snappers in the sixth inning that broke a 2-2 tie. Quad Cities loaded the bases and tied the game 3-3 in the eighth on a ground ball up the middle of the diamond fielded by Nate Mondou, but Trace Loehr bobbled the catch and the umpire ruled the runner Yordan Alvarez safe as Bryan De La Cruz scored. Loehr had another tough play on the next batter that grounded a ball to his glove side, but he delivered a late throw to third on a forceout attempt as the go-ahead run scored.
Miguel Mercedes extended his hitting streak to nine games with his third two-hit performance of the series. Marinez also had a pair of hits for the Snappers on Sunday. Nate Mondou plated a pair of runs with a single in the third to tie the game, his first RBIs since June 1. Kyle Nowlin worked three walks on the afternoon after he reached twice on walks Saturday night. The Snappers and Bandits combined on six double plays, three for each side, including one for Quad Cities that ended the game.
