Snappers Fall to Timber Rattlers 13-2

August 31, 2014

BELOIT, Wisc - The Snappers struggled offensively on Sunday afternoon, as Beloit lost to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers by a score of 13-2.

The game started out very slow, as neither team got on the scoreboard until BJ Boyd lost a ball in the sun in center field which allowed for the Timber Rattlers to score. From there on out it was a one sided game.

The Snappers pitching staff didn't help deflate Wisconsin's offense as Hunter Adkins allowed eight runs in five innings pitched. Adkins goes to 1-6 on the season for Beloit. Lee Sosa came in to relieve Adkins and allowed three earned runs and a homer. Trevor Bayless pitched two innings at the end of the game while allowing two earned runs and two homeruns.

Beloit finally scored some runs in the seventh inning when Branden Cogswell singled on a fly ball to center field to score Justin Higley. Shortly after, BJ Boyd doubled to center field and was able to bring in Branden Cogswell to score.

Last night, one of the newest Snappers, a player who has spent some time at the major league level for the Oakland A's this season, Nate Freiman, had a huge game. On Sunday afternoon Freiman went just 1-for-4 with a double.

The Snappers close out the season on Labor Day with a matinee against the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers at 2:00 pm. Call (608) 362-2272, stop by the front office, or visit www.snappersbaseball.com to buy tickets.
