Snappers Hot Stove to Benefit Beloit Meals on Wheels

Portion of Proceeds to be Donated to Local Charity
January 23, 2013
BELOIT, WI - The Beloit Snappers will be hosting their 9th Annual Hot Stove Banquet at the Eclipse Center in Beloit on February 5th and a portion of the evening's earnings will be donated to Beloit Meals on Wheels. This is the first time the Snappers will be donating revenue from the hot stove to an outside organization.

Beloit Meals on Wheels was established in 1971 and ever since, they have been assisting local residents who are unable, for various reasons, to prepare meals for themselves. Their mission statement reads: "Beloit Meals on Wheels provides daily nutritious meals to the homebound elderly, ill and disabled in the Greater Beloit area and furnishes needed services and information to promote dignity and independence."

Today, their clientele ranges from those who are on short-term recuperation to others who rely on them as a permanent means of food service. They provide meals seven days a week as well as on holidays and are able to cater to all sorts of diets and requirements. No one is denied service based on inability to pay.

"We're very excited about this," said Snappers general manager Matthew Bosen. "Beloit Meals on Wheels is such an outstanding local organization and we're more than happy to help them in any way we can. The opportunity to use our hot stove banquet as a way of giving back to this great community, especially those who are less fortunate, was too much to pass up."

Tickets for the banquet are $40 per person and are currently on sale. Each ticket includes dinner, two box seat ticket vouchers to any April Snappers home game in 2013 and the program for the evening. Tables of eight are also available for $300 ($37.50 apiece). Tickets can be purchased by calling the Snappers offices at 608-362-2272 or by dropping by Pohlman Field at 2301 Skyline Drive in Beloit. Tickets to both the dinner and the program are non-refundable.

The Eclipse Center is located at 1701 Riverside Drive. The doors for the event will open at 5:15pm for the silent auction and social hour. Dinner will begin at 6:30pm and the program is scheduled to start at approximately 7:15pm.

The Beloit Snappers are a member of the Midwest League and are a Class-A affiliate of the Oakland Athletics. Opening Day at Pohlman Field is set for April 11, 2013 at 6:30pm, when the Snappers face the Burlington Bees, the Midwest League affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.
