Altoona, Penn. - The Somerset Patriots (54-39) dropped their third game in a row Friday night in an 11-3 loss to the Altoona Curve (50-42) at People’s Natural Gas Field.

The Curve took an early lead on a two-out, two-run double from Matt Fraizer in the first and a Jack Suwinski (2) solo home run in the second.

Somerset got on the board on a Jason Lopez run-scoring fielder’s choice in the top of the fourth, but Altoona responded with the second Suwinksi (3) home run of the game to extend the lead back to three.

The Patriots once again made it a two run deficit in the top of the fifth when Thomas Milone scored on a balk, but that was as close as the team would get for the rest of the night.

Altoona plated three runs in the fifth on RBI base hits from Oneil Cruz, Mason Martin, and Cam Mitchell. Four more Curve runs scored in the bottom of the sixth on a Cruz two-run double, Diego Castillo run-scoring fielder’s choice and Fraizer sacrifice fly.

Somerset plated the final run of the night on a Dermis Garcia RBI infield single in the eighth.

Osvaldo Bido (W, 3-5) scattered two runs over 6.2 innings for the win. Jhony Brito (L, 2-2) yielded seven runs on eight hits over 4.1 innings to take the loss.

The Patriots and Curve continue their six-game series Saturday night. Right-handed pitcher Shawn Semple (5-2, 3.68 ERA) takes the mound for Somerset against Altoona southpaw Omar Cruz (2-2, 3.33 ERA). First pitch at People’s Natural Gas Field is set for 6:00 p.m.
