Portland, Maine - The Somerset Patriots (29-15) battled to a 5-4 win in 10 innings over the Portland Sea Dogs (25-19) at Hadlock Field Thursday night.

Somerset held three different leads in the game before ultimately taking a 5-4 lead in the top of the 10th inning on a Matt Pita RBI groundout. Stephen Ridings (W, 3-0) worked 2.1 scoreless innings of relief, including a scoreless ninth and 10th inning, to help lift the Patriots to the win.

Portland tied the game in the bottom of the eighth on a Ronaldo Hernandez RBI double, but Ridings came on with two in scoring position and finished off the frame to keep the game tied.

Earlier in the night, the Patriots took a 2-0 lead in the second on a Thomas Milone RBI triple and a bases-loaded walk to Oswald Peraza. The Sea Dogs tied it up in the second on a two-out, two-run home run from Devlin Granberg (1) before a 474 ft. blast from Dermis Garcia (12) put Somerset back ahead 4-3 in the third.

Portland again tied the game in the fourth on a Granberg RBI groundout, but Chase Illig - making his second start of the year - helped regain the lead Somerset in the sixth on a run-scoring groundout.

Zack Kelly (L, 1-1) yielded one unearned run in his lone inning of relief to take the loss.

The extra-inning win puts Somerset a season-best 14 games over .500. Additionally, the team boasts the best overall record in the Double-A Northeast League, 1.5 games better than the Bowie Baysox (Baltimore Orioles).

The Patriots and Sea Dogs continue their six-game series Friday night. Right-handed pitcher Heyden Wesneski (0-1, 13.50 ERA) gets the ball for Somerset against Portland righty Frank German (2-3, 5.66 ERA). First pitch at Hadlock Field is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
