Hartford, Conn. - The Somerset Patriots (12-5) carried a couple of big home runs and strong relief pitching to a 7-2 win over the Hartford Yard Goats (5-12) Saturday night.

Dermis Garcia (6) opened the scoring with a solo home run in the first inning. It extended his hit streak to nine games, over which he is now hitting .351 (13-for-37) with six home runs and 14 RBI.

The Yard Goats pulled ahead with a Jimmy Herron RBI single in the second and an Elehuris Montero (4) solo home run in the third, but the Patriots responded quickly and never looked back.

Max Burt (1) lifted a two-out, two-run home run in the fourth to put Somerset back ahead 3-2. The Patriots later added a Matt Pita sacrifice fly in the sixth and three more runs in the ninth, including a two-run single from Oliver Dunn, to finish the night’s scoring.

Every Patriots batter in the lineup recorded a hit for the third-straight night. The team also totaled 14 hits against Hartford, marking the third-straight night in which Somerset had recorded 10+ hits.

The Patriots only got two innings out of starting pitcher Shawn Semple, but their bullpen limited the Yard Goats to one run on six hits over seven innings to keep the game in check.

Reid Anderson (W, 1-1) earned the win after striking out five over three innings of relief. Michael Gomez tossed three scoreless frames out of the bullpen as well.

Garrett Schilling (L, 0-1) allowed three runs over five innings to take the loss.

The Patriots conclude their six-game series against the Hartford Yard Goats Sunday afternoon. Southpaw Matt Krook (0-0, 2.92 ERA) takes the mound for Somerset against Yard Goats right-hander Will Gaddis (0-2, 7.15 ERA). First pitch from Dunkin Donuts Park is set for 1:05 p.m.
