SOUTH BEND, IN - Get up close and personal with baseball legends in the 2018 South Bend Cubs Celebrity Series presented by Four Winds Casino South Bend. Only a limited number of VIP tickets will be available to meet former Chicago Cub closer Lee Smith on Thursday, May 10 and Hall of Fame pitcher Rollie Fingers on Friday, June 1.
Smith pitched for the Cubs for eight seasons from 1980-1987 and was part of two All-Star teams during his time with the Cubs. The Jamestown, LA native pitched for a total of 17 years in the big leagues before retiring in 1997. With the Cubs, Smith finished with a 2.92 ERA over eight seasons and pitched in 458 games with Chicago. His 180 saves with the Cubs remains his career high with any team. Smith also struck out 644 batters with the Cubs and finished with a career total of 1,251.
Fingers played 17 years in the major leagues with Oakland, San Diego, and Milwaukee. The 1992 Hall of Fame inductee finished his career with an ERA of 2.90, 341 saves and a 114-118 record to go along with three World Series Championships and seven All-Star appearances. As one of the most dominant late inning pitchers of all time, Fingers won the Cy Young and MVP Award in 1981 with Milwaukee.
Each VIP package includes a ticket to the game, two-hour all-you-can-eat buffet (6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.), a South Bend Cubs hat, and a private meet and greet with each celebrity. The Lee Smith Meet and Greet will be held in the Pepsi Stadium Club. The Rollie Fingers Meet and Greet will be held in the lower level of the 1st Source Bank Performance Center. Both autograph signings will begin promptly at 6:00 p.m.
Tickets are $50 for each VIP package and only 100 ticket packages will be available for each event. Tickets can be purchased by visiting the South Bend Cubs Main Office at Four Winds Field or by calling (574) 235-9988. Packages are not available online.
