Free Family Fun! SpikesFest is this Sunday

Eighth annual event to be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The State College Spikes annual indoor carnival event known as SpikesFest is this weekend! The eighth annual event will take place on Sunday, Feb. 16 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Penn State Indoor Multi-Sport Facility, located just across Dauer Drive from the Bryce Jordan Center. SpikesFest 2014 is presented by Mount Nittany Health, 95.3 FM 3WZ and WTAJ, Your News Leader.

Admission is free and those attending the event will receive complimentary parking in Lot 44 by indicating to attendants that they are visiting SpikesFest.

Now in its eighth year as the State College area's premier winter family activity, SpikesFest is a giant indoor baseball carnival designed to simulate the experience of fun ballpark activities during the heart of winter. The event will feature free autograph sessions, inflatable games, kids activities, video games, mascot appearances, performances by local entertainment groups, unique experiences, door prizes, ticket specials, and the chance for one adult to win a new KIA courtesy of Lion Country KIA.

"Get Active Community Sign-Up" at Spikes Fest 2014

In partnership with Mount Nittany Health, SpikesFest will feature the first-ever "Get Active Community Sign-Up Event," which aims to provide the community with a one-stop opportunity to gather information and sign up for sports leagues, fitness activities, races, and other events during the spring and summer months.

Silent Auction to Benefit Pink Zone at Penn State

SpikesFest 2014 will feature a silent auction of sports memorabilia and entertainment experiences with all proceeds to benefit Pink Zone at Penn State. The Penn State Lady Lions basketball team will be hosting their annual Pink Zone game for breast cancer awareness on Sunday, Feb. 16 at 1 p.m. at the Bryce Jordan Center. The Spikes are encouraging all SpikesFest attendees to walk across the street to enjoy the Pink Zone game against Wisconsin associated activities. Learn more about the event by visiting

While the silent auction will feature a number of affordable items from local sponsors and attractions, the Pink Zone at Penn State auction at SpikesFest will also include several collectible items from such names as Andrew McCutchen, Ben Roethlisberger, Hines Ward, Roberto Clemente, Penn State stars Matt McGloin and Michael Mauti, and many others.
