The State College Spikes annual free, family-oriented winter carnival event known as "SpikesFest" will take place Sunday, February 10 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Penn State Indoor Multi-Sport Facility, located adjacent to the Bryce Jordan Center. SpikesFest 2013 is presented by the flagship radio home of the Spikes, 95.3 FM 3WZ, and WTAJ HD, Your News Leader.
Admission is free and complimentary parking for SpikesFest attendees is limited to Lot 44 South due to the Penn State Lady Lions basketball game. Lot 44 South is located next to the Indoor Multi-Sport Facility and between Dauer Drive and the outdoor track facility.
Now in its seventh year as the State College area's premier winter family activity, SpikesFest is a giant indoor baseball carnival designed to simulate the experience of fun ballpark activities during the heart of Winter. The event will feature live music and performances by local entertainment groups, inflatable games, kids activities, video games, mascot appearances, unique experiences, door prizes and much more. A full list of activities can be viewed by clicking here.
SpikesFest will also provide Spikes fans with an opportunity to reserve ticket packages and experiences for the 2013 season, which opens Monday, June 17. In addition to Season Tickets, Value Plans and a bevy of experience and hospitality opportunities for groups of 20 or more, the Spikes will also be running special one-day-only ticket packages as part of SpikesFest.
- McDonalds Flex Books, which contain 12 undated vouchers for the price of 10, will include a free 13th voucher if purchased during Sunday's event.
- With Valentine's Day approaching, lovers can surprise their significant others by reserving an Ike's Sweetheart Package. The $50 package includes the delivery of two Spikes tickets and chocolate by Ike the Spike on February 14th.
- SpikesFest will also mark the first chance for parents to sign up kids 12 and under for the FREE 2013 First National Bank Spikes Kids Club. Fans wishing to take advantage of any of these opportunities can visit the Spikes ticket tables throughout the event.
The Spikes will also once again hold a silent auction of sports memorabilia and entertainment experiences with all proceeds to benefit Coaches vs. Cancer. Over the first six SpikesFest events, the club has helped to raise several thousand dollars for Coaches vs. Cancer, a nation-wide collaboration between the American Cancer Society and the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC).
