NILES, OH - Saturday night's scheduled game between the State College Spikes and Mahoning Valley Scrappers was canceled due to inclement weather in the Niles area. The game will not be made up.

The Spikes (38-32) remain 2 ½ games behind the Scrappers (40-29) for the New York-Penn League Pinckney Division lead with five games remaining in the 2017 regular season. Mahoning Valley's magic number to clinch the division now stands at three.

State College will also remain in third place in the NYPL Wild Card Standings, and could gain ground depending on the results of first-place Hudson Valley and second-place Aberdeen. The Spikes are currently two games out of first in the race for the league's lone Wild Card playoff berth.

Following a return trip to Central PA, the Spikes begin a three-game series with the Auburn Doubledays (Washington Nationals) on Sunday. The 6:05 p.m. matchup at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park starts a five-game homestand to finish the Spikes' regular season slate.

Left-hander Daniel Castano (8-3), whose 74 strikeouts are already the most in a single season for a Spikes pitcher, is set to make the start for State College. Castano will bid to tie the Spikes' single-season wins record, set last year by teammate Steven Farinaro .

Auburn is set to send right-hander Jackson Tetreault (2-1) to the mound.
