2013 Spikes catcher hit by pitch for Cards on Sunday night

Luke Voitreached his destination on the Road to the Show, presented by HRI, Inc., on Sunday night. The 2013 State College Spikes catcher made his major league debut for the St. Louis Cardinals, getting hit by a pitch in a pinch-hitting appearance against the Pittsburgh Pirates.
With Voit's ascent to the bigs, 47 former Spikes have now reached the ranks of Major League Baseball.
Voit hit .242 with seven doubles, two homers and 16 RBI in 46 games for the Spikes in 2013, helping to lead the club to its first-ever New York-Penn League Pinckney Division title. The Wildwood, MO native then worked his way up the Cardinals' minor league system, reaching Triple-A Memphis this year. Voit went on tear to start the 2017 campaign, with a .322 average, 12 homers and 48 RBI, which were the most of all Cardinals farmhands.
