Gallo Selected To Class A All-Stars

Former first-round slugger brings in second award this offseason
November 19, 2013

SPOKANE, Wash. - Minor League Baseball and the Topps Company announced today that former Spokane Indians slugger Joey Gallo ('12) is among the nine players selected to the Topps Class A All-Star Team.

The former first-round pick of the Texas Rangers played in Spokane for the last part of the 2012 season. That season he combined for 22 home runs, 12 doubles, 48 walks, 56 hits and a slugging percentage of .660. Despite playing the majority of the season at the Arizona Rookie League level - he played just 12 games in Spokane - Gallo was third on the Indians for home runs.

This season with the Hickory Crawdads, the 20-year-old from Henderson, Nev., led all minor league players with 40 home runs to become the youngest to win the Joe Bauman Home Run Award. The third baseman also led the South Atlantic League in slugging percentage (.610) and OPS (.944).

The Spokane Indians open the 2014 regular season on Friday, June 13th at Avista Stadium against the Eugene Emeralds.
