Spokane, WASH. - It's not how you start but how you finish. Scoring eight runs in the first three innings wasn't enough for the Spokane Indians on Saturday night. The Indians suffered an 11-8 loss to the Eugene Emeralds on Fireworks Night presented by Your Local Toyota Dealers, Spokane's Greatest Hits KEY 101, and 94.1 The Bear

With the game scoreless in the bottom of the second inning, the Indians exploded for six runs on six hits. The scoring outburst was highlighted by Texas Rangers' 2017 1st round draft pick Chris Seise getting his first hit as an Indian. His triple to right-center scored two Spokane runs. Seise's high school and current teammate Kole Enright also chimed in with a two-run double.
However, the Indians' 6-0 lead was short-lived. The Emeralds plated six runs on just one hit in the top half of the 3rd inning. The lone hit was a single from Ramsey Romano that brought home two Emeralds.
With the game tied Spokane bounced back in the bottom of the third. The Indians retook the lead on a fielder's choice that scored Matt Whatley from third. Chad Smith scored a couple batters later thanks to a throwing error to give Spokane an 8-6 lead.
The Indians' 8th run of the game was the final run they would score. Eugene proceeded to score five runs in the final five innings, including the go-ahead run in the 8th inning. Ramsey Romano scored on Spokane's fifth fielding error of the night.
The Indians and Emeralds continue with game four of their five-game series tomorrow afternoon for Kids Day & OTTO's Birthday Bash presented by Longhorn BBQ, 95.3 KPND, and Kids Newspaper.
