Indians Use Late Heroics to Top Boise

Tendler knocks in game-tying run, scores the game-winning run
June 22, 2014

Spokane, WA - The Indians picked up right where they left off at home as they collected another early-season win at Avista Stadium, this time 3-2 over the Boise Hawks in front of 5,731 fans on Fireworks Night presented by Valley Glass, KHQ, The Big 99.9 Coyote Country, ESPN 700/ESPN 1080 and The Current.

Right fielder Luke Tendler drove in Seth Spivey in the bottom of the eighth inning to tie the game, and then scored after Juremi Profar collected a sac fly. Tendler went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, one in the first inning, and one run. Tendler, drafted in the 2014 MLB First-Year Player Draft, is hitting .417 on the season. Spivey added a double to push his team-leading average to .500.

Adam Parks earned his first professional win, tossing two scoreless innings of relief in the final two frames. Parks has yet to allow a run this season. Jason Hoppe, replacing starter Reed Garrett in the fourth inning with the bases loaded, forced Boise into a double play to end the threat. Hoppe returned the ensuing innings and struck out the side; he finished with 2.2 innings pitched, keeping his ERA at 0.00 as well.

The Indians will be at home in Avista Stadium tomorrow, Sunday, June 22nd, for Kids Operate the Ballpark Day Game presented by Itron, KAYU FOX 28, 103.1 KCDA and Kids Newspaper. The game begins at a special start time of 3:30 PM. Avista Stadium will be taken over by kids!
