Sold Out Crowd Sees Walk-Off Win

Indians find offensive life late in extra-innings victory
August 23, 2013

Spokane, WA - The timely hits finally showed up for the Indians as Joe Jackson singled home Marcus Greene for the game-winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning to top the Tri-City Dust Devils 6-5 to capture the series win in front of a sold out crowd of 6,861 fans on Yoke's $1 Family Feast Night presented by Yoke's Fresh Market and 92.9 ZZU.

Jackson wasn't the only Spokane player who showed up when it counted. In the bottom of the ninth, as the Dust Devils held onto a 5-4 lead, Ryan Cordell singled, advanced to second on a Barrett Serrato sac fly, and then stole third. Gabe Roa singled him home to tie the ball game and force the extra frame.

The Dust Devils jumped on Indians starter Ryne Slack in the second inning for three runs to take an early lead. Then in the bottom half of the fourth, with the Indians trailing 4-1, Roa belted a bases-loaded, bases-clearing double to tie the ball game.

Slack allowed four runs - three earned - in five innings pitched. He also had a season-high eight strikeouts to bring his total to 54. Ricardo Rodriguez relieved Slack in the sixth inning and tossed one scoreless inning. Abel De Los Santos allowed the Dust Devil's fifth run in the eighth inning. John Straka was credited with the win after tossing two innings and allowing only three hits.

Spokane's other run came when Serrato hit a sac fly to score Janluis Castro. Eduard Pinto doubled and Greene finished with a double and a triple
