SPOKANE, Wash. – Spokane received a brilliant pitching performance from Nick Bush, and the offense whacked two sixth inning homers to bust open the game and beat Vancouver, 5-2, on Dollars in your Dog Night presented by BNSF Railways in front of a limited capacity crowd of 2,250.

TOP PERFORMERS

  • Nick Bush pitched his best game of the season, and one of the best by any Indians’ starter this year. He went six scoreless innings, giving up just three hits and striking out five. He retired the final 10 batters he faced.
  • Isaac Collins led off the bottom of the sixth inning with his third homer of the series and third of his professional career. He’s recorded seven total hits and six RBI in five games against Vancouver this week.
  • Willie MacIver launched a two-run homer two batters after Collins smacked his solo shot. MacIver is now second on the team in homers (7) and RBI (22). Those numbers rank second in the High-A West for homers and fourth for RBI.

BY THE NUMBERS

  • Nick Bush has a dazzling 43-to-6 strikeout-to-walk ratio through 34.1 innings this season.
  • Aaron Schunk collected his third multi-hit performance in his last five games. He is tied for third on the team with 24 hits on the season.
  • PJ Poulin appeared in his High-A West leading 17th game of the season and collected his first save with a perfect ninth inning. The lefty out of UConn leads the league with eight holds and owns a spectacular 1.62 ERA on the year.

KEY MOMENT

In three of the first four games this series, Vancouver put up a crooked number in the first inning to propel them to victories. Nick Bush kept the Canadians off the scoreboard on Saturday and Spokane put up a run in the first themselves to play with the lead.

AROUND THE LEAGUE

The Everett AquaSox topped the Eugene Emeralds 6-1 to take a 1.5 game lead in the High-A West.

The Tri-City Dust Devils and Hillsboro Hops saw their game get suspended in the fifth inning because of weather. Prior to that, Tri-City was leading 5-2.
