Indians Break Slump, Rout Aquasox

Spokane uses 12 hits to score 10 runs in streak-snapping victory

Spokane, WA - The Spokane Indians used 12 hits and an eight-run fourth inning to snap its four-game slide, topping the Everett AquaSox 10-1 at Avista Stadium on Friday night in front of 6,023 fans on Fireworks Night presented by Toyota, The Big 99.9 Coyote Country, ESPN 700/ESPN 1080 and The Current.

Spokane's pitching was key in the victory, as starter Andrew Barnett struck out nine batters in five innings, holding Everett to a single run. Barnett lowered his ERA to 4.94 on the season. Erik Swanson pitched superb in relief, throwing two perfect innings with three punch outs. Luis Pollorena and Adam Parks closed out the eighth and ninth, respectively.

The Indians used an eight-run fourth inning to begin the rout. Spokane used a series of base hits, and Everett errors, to keep the pressure on. Jose Cardona had a masterful inning, as the center fielder had two hits, a stolen base and a run scored. Cardona's batting average is now at .327 while playing for Spokane.

Josh Morgan added his first RBI wearing an Indians jersey, singling home Isiah Kiner-Falefa. Morgan has a .571 average in two game splayed for Spokane. Seth Spivey added one hit and two RBI to maintain the Northwest League lead with a .356 batting average. Diego Cedeno had his best night in a Spokane uniform, adding three hits and two runs.

The Indians host the AquaSox in the rubber match tomorrow evening for another great Fireworks Night presented by Toyota, KAYU FOX 28, 1050 The KEY and 101.1 Rock 'N' Rolls Greatest Hits. First pitch is at 6:30!
