SPOKANE, Wash. - Down to their final strike, in danger of losing consecutive games for the first time in three weeks, the Spokane Indians would not die. Cristian Inoa lifted a two-out, game-tying, two-run homer just inches over the left field wall to tie the game at four in the bottom of the ninth. Luis Asuncion hit a walk-off single in the bottom of the tenth, and the Spokane Indians completed the Redband Rally to beat the Eugene Emeralds, 5-4, to win their fourth-straight series on County Fair Night presented by Coors Light, Rock 94 1/2, and The BIG 99.9 Coyote Country.

TOP PERFORMERS

  • Cristian Inoa entered Monday with just three extra base hits since July 15. He smacked a double and the game-tying homer, his first long ball of the season and first since July 2, 2018 (82 games, 290 at-bats).
  • Luis Asuncion hit the walk-off single with one out in the tenth. He smacked the second pitch he saw right up the middle to bring home Derwin Barreto and send the Avista Stadium crowd into delirium. The outfielder received several Gatorade baths for his efforts.
  • Obie Ricumstrict was the unsung hero of the late innings. With two out and nobody on in the ninth, Ricumstrict sprinted out an infield single in a bang-bang play at first. His hustle allowed Inoa to bat and tie the game with one swing.

BY THE NUMBERS
  • Spokane has won four straight series and is now 9-3 since the All-Star break. They are 6-1 in extra innings this season.
  • David Garcia went 2-for-4 with an RBI. The Indians catcher is hitting .327 in the month of August with 10 RBI.
  • Juan Castillo pitched his second straight scoreless outing. He has retired eight of the last nine batters he's faced on just 16 pitches.

KEY MOMENT
Eugene loaded the bases with two outs in the 10th inning after two walks. Joe Corbett faced off against Luis Vazquez, who was 5-for-7 in the first two games of the series. Corbett got him to ground out to short on the first pitch to end the threat. That set up Asuncion's walk-off in the bottom of the inning.
AROUND THE LEAGUE
Tri-City fell to the Hillsboro Hops 6-4 on Monday. The Indians now have a two game lead on the Dust Devils, three games on Everett and four games on Vancouver. Hillsboro's win gives them a one game lead on Eugene in the South Division.
