SPOKANE, Wash. - For the third time in the last six home games, Spokane won a game in their final plate appearance. Alexander Ovalles ripped a walk-off RBI single down the right field line in the bottom of the 10th inning to give Spokane a 7-6 win over Vancouver for their fourth-straight victory in front of 6,810 fans on Family Feast Night presented by Yoke's Fresh Market and 92.9 ZZU.

TOP PERFORMERS

  • The star of the game was Blaine Crim . He launched two homers and drove in five to pace the Indians, who jumped out to a 6-2 lead before Vancouver tied the game in the eighth.
  • Starting pitcher Teodoro Ortega tied a season-high with five innings pitched. He gave up a single run on one hit, walked none and struck out four.
  • After replacing Luis Asuncion because of a hit by pitch, Starling Joseph smacked two doubles and an RBI in four at-bats. It's his third multi-hit game of the season.

BY THE NUMBERS
  • Crim is hitting a whopping .450 in the month of August. He has a hit in all nine games and multiple hits in seven of the nine. His .361 season average and 34 RBI both rank second in the league.
  • Jake Hoover is batting 7-for-15 in his last four games. He's driven in three, scored five, and smacked a pair of doubles. He's raised his batting average from .208 to .246 since the all-star break.
  • Despite the victory, Spokane went just 3-for-14 with runners in scoring position.

KEY MOMENT
Vancouver was held scoreless in the top of the 10th. With runners on second and third with one out, Josh Smith reared back and struck out Philip Clarke looking for the second out. He got MC Gregory Contreras to ground out on the next pitch to keep the game tied heading to the bottom of the 10th. After a walk and an error, Ovalles drove in Crim to win the game and take a Gatorade bath on the infield.
AROUND THE LEAGUE
Everett's win over Tri-City keeps the AquaSox within two games of the Indians. Spokane now has a one game lead over the Dust Devils in the second half. The Indians won the first half and have clinched a playoff spot.
