SPOKANE, Wash. - Seth Nordlin followed up Hans Crouse's gem with a spectacular outing of his own as the Indians defeated the Eugene Emeralds 4-3 in front of 6,093 fans on Star Wars Night #2 presented by Tire Rama & Cooper Tires, 105.7 NOW FM, and The Greater Spokane Valley Current Newsmagazine.

Seth Nordlin (W, 2-1) was on pace to match Hans Crouse's seven scoreless innings and 11 strikeouts for most of the night. He fell just short, but still pitched the best game of his professional career. He finished the night tossing 6.1 innings, striking out seven, walking none and allowing just one run, a solo homer in the sixth.
Spokane's offense did all of its damage in the middle innings. In the bottom of the third, Tyler Depreta-Johnson hit a lead-off double. After two walks loaded the bases, Francisco Ventura managed a third straight walk to bring in the first run of the game.
The Indians worked two more walks with one out in the fourth. Emeralds' catcher Jonathan Soto tried to pick off the trail runner at first, but his throw sailed down the right field line, allowing Austin O'Banion to score from second to give Spokane a 2-0 lead.
No luck was needed in the fifth inning. Francisco Ventura launched the first pitch of the inning over the right field fence for his first homer of the season. Tanner Gardner would go back-to-back, hitting a solo shot to the exact same spot in right field. It was the first homer of the year for Gardner as well.
Eugene clawed back in the eighth with two more runs. Sean Chandler put an end to the threat by inducing a pop up for the third out. The Indians escaped the inning clinging to a 4-3 lead.
Chandler (SV, 1) also pitched a perfect ninth, with an assist to Tanner Gardner, who made an incredible diving stop at first base for the first out of the inning. Chandler has not allowed an earned run in his last eight innings.
