SPOKANE, Wash. - The Colorado Rockies have announced the 2022 Field Staff for the Spokane Indians, with manager Scott Little, pitching coach Ryan Kibler, and hitting coach Zach Osborne all returning for a second season in the Lilac City. Rounding out Spokane’s field staff for the 2022 High-A West season will be newcomer Julio Campos (bench coach).
Manager: Scott Little
The 59-year-old Little led the Indians to a 67-49 record and the High-A West finals in their first season as an affiliate of the Colorado Rockies in 2021. The Indians trailed the Everett AquaSox by 14.5 games at one point before winning 18 of 20 in August and September to help secure a playoff berth. Little has been in the Colorado Rockies organization since 2016, serving as manager of both the Boise Hawks and Lancaster JetHawks. Originally a seventh-round pick by the Mets in 1984, Little spent eight seasons as a player in the minors, earning a brief call-up with the Pirates in 1989 before beginning his coach career with the Pittsburgh organization in 1992.
Prior to joining the Rockies, Little was an amateur scout for the Los Angeles Dodgers for seven years (2009-15). Little also worked in roles including Outfield Coordinator, Major and Minor League Field Coordinator, and Manager in the Pittsburgh Pirates (1992-2001), Los Angeles Dodgers (2002-05), Washington Nationals (2006-07) and Texas Rangers (2008) organizations.
Pitching Coach: Ryan Kibler
Kibler returns to Spokane for a second season in 2022 and his 11th overall as a pitching coach in the Rockies organization. The Spokane Indians finished the 2021 season with the second-best ERA (4.60) and WHIP (1.347) in the High-A West and saw Indians pitcher Ryan Feltner make his MLB debut in September. Prior to joining Spokane, Kibler served as pitching coach for the Boise Hawks (2019), Asheville Tourists (2017-2018), and Grand Junction Rockies (2012-16). Kibler was drafted by Colorado in the second round of the 1999 First-Year Player Draft out of C. Leon King High School in Tampa, FL, and spent his entire six-year playing career in the Rockies organization.
Hitting Coach: Zach Osborne
Osborne is back for a second season with the Indians and enters his fourth year overall as a hitting coach in the Rockies system. Spokane’s offense finished the 2021 campaign second in the High-A West in batting average (.254), on-base percentage (.346), and stolen bases (202). Before joining the Indians, the former Tennessee Volunteer spent two seasons with Grand Junction (2018-19) as a hitting coach. As a player, Osborne signed as a Minor League free agent in 2012 and reached as high as Double-A in his five-year career with the Rockies.
Bench Coach: Julio Campos
Campos enters his first season with Spokane in 2022 and 10th with the Rockies organization overall. He managed the Dominican Summer League Rockies for two seasons (2018-19), earning DSL Manager of the Year and All-Star Team manager honors in 2018. Campos has primarily served as an area scouting supervisor in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic since joining the club in 2012 when he transitioned from the role of infield instructor at the Puerto Rico Baseball Academy (2002-12). The Hato Rey, Puerto Rico, native was drafted by Philadelphia in the 21st round of the 2000 First-Year Player Draft and spent four seasons in the Phillies system.
