San Antonio, TX - The Cardinals rallied for five runs in the sixth inning and cruised to the 7-1 win against the San Antonio Missions before 5,574 fans at Wolff Stadium on Friday night. 2B Tommy Edman helped lead the lineup with a 2x5 night, including a two-run home run and an RBI double.

Edman dealt his first blow in the top of the third to crack the scoreless tie against LHP Logan Allen (L, 6-2). With C José Godoy at second and two away, Edman rifled an RBI double to left field, bringing in Godoy for the 1-0 lead.

RHP Connor Jones (W, 3-1) kept the narrow lead intact with scoreless work through his first five innings, scattering four hits with no walks while striking out five.

The Cardinals (25-23) then opened the advantage with a five-run outburst in the top of the sixth. Jones worked a walk to lead off, before Edman launched a two-run blast to left field for his third home run of the year and second of the week. SS Edmundo Sosa followed with a single and raced to third when CF Lane Thomas sent a double to left field. Sosa scampered home on an RBI groundout from LF Victor Roache to make it 4-0, before 3B Evan Mendoza was hit by a pitch putting runners at the corners. RHP Trevor Megill took over and induced a fly out, but uncorked a wild pitch that scored Thomas and moved Mendoza to second. RF Granden Goetzman capped the rally with an RBI single to left field, extending his seven-game hitting streak and bringing in Mendoza for the 6-0 lead.

The Missions (30-18) got on the board in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI single from 2B Peter Van Gansen, but LHP Ian McKinney navigated out of a bases-loaded jam to avoid further trouble and keep the Cardinals in front, 6-1.

The Cardinals got the run right back in the top of the seventh. After Edman reached on a fielder's choice and stole second, Sosa pulled an RBI single to left-center for his third hit of the night, bringing in Edman for the 7-1 lead.

McKinney tossed a scoreless seventh, followed by a pair of shutout innings by RHP Yeison Medina to close the 7-1 win for the Cardinals.
