PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (June 13, 2021) – The Palm Beach Cardinals defeated the St. Lucie Mets 10-3 on Sunday afternoon to earn a 3-3 series split at Clover Park.

Cardinals leadoff hitter Masyn Winn hit a grand slam and collected seven RBI in the victory. Winn drove in 14 runs in the series, all from the leadoff spot.

Dellin Betances began a rehab assignment with the Mets. He pitched a scoreless seventh inning, striking out two and working around a one-out walk. Betances threw 21 pitches (12 strikes).

Mets starter Austin Faith walked the first five batters of the second inning to force home two runs. The sixth batter, Winn, ripped a grand slam to left field for a 6-0 Cardinals lead. It was the second grand slam in four games for Winn.

The Mets offense was held in check for the first time in the series. The Mets scored two runs against Palm Beach starter Jose Moreno in the fourth inning when Moreno walked Matt Dyer and Ranfy Adon with the bases loaded to cut the deficit to 7-2.

The Mets only other run came on a two-out RBI single by Nic Gaddis in the fifth inning.

Moreno held the Mets to one hit and two runs over four innings. Reliever Luis Ortiz allowed one run over three innings to pick up the win.

Alexander Ramirez went 2 for 5 with a double in the loss.

The Mets (20-16) are off on Monday. They return to the diamond on Tuesday when they start a six-game road series at the Jupiter Hammerheads. First pitch on Tuesday at Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
