The three errors accounted for five unearned runs in an 8-4 loss to the Indianapolis Indians in front of 7,828. The loss snapped the Saints three-game winning streak and dropped them to 40-35 on the season.

The Indians put up a crooked number in the first as Tucupita Marcano led off the game with a bunt single. Major League rehabber Colin Moran then doubled him home to make it 1-0. With one out, Christian Bethancourt reached on a fielding error by second baseman Jose Miranda that put runners at the corners. Cole Tucker made it 2-0 with an RBI single to left-center. An RBI groundout by Bligh Madris followed by a Hunter Owen RBI single to center made it 4-0.

The Saints managed to get three back in the second as they loaded the bases with nobody out. Jimmy Kerrigan and Ben Rortvedt each singled and Drew Maggi walked. Sherman Johnson’s two-run single to center made it 4-2. Roberto Peña’s sacrifice fly made it 4-3.

The Indians scored three unearned runs in the fourth all with two outs. With nobody on and two outs Dee Strange-Gordon reached on an infield single to third. Marcano followed by reaching on the shortstop’s Maggi error. A pop up that was misplayed in shallow right and landed for a two-run double put the Indians up 6-3. Anthony Alford’s RBI double moved the lead up to four at 7-3.

The teams traded runs in the fifth as Tucker led off with a single to left. He moved to third on a double from Madris. A sacrifice fly by Hunter Owen put the Indians up 8-3.

In the bottom of the inning Tomás Telis walked and Rob Refsnyder doubled him to third. Refsnyder finished the night 3-5 with two doubles. A sacrifice fly from Mark Contreras got the Saints to within four at 8-4.
