The State College Spikes, the Class-A Short Season affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, have announced the club's 2013 New York-Penn League schedule and game times. The Spikes 38-game home schedule at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park will open on Monday, June 17 with a 7:05 p.m. first pitch against the Williamsport Crosscutters (Philadelphia Phillies).
Standard home game times will remain 7:05 p.m. on weekdays and Saturdays and 6:05 p.m. Sundays. Exceptions to standard home game times will occur on Thursday, July 4 (1:00 p.m. vs. Batavia) and Monday, July 22 (Noon vs. Connecticut). The July 4 game will mark the Spikes first Independence Day home date since the 2010 season.
26 of the club's 38 home games will be played against rivals from the NYPL's Pinckney Division. The Spikes will host Williamsport six times, while playing host to Auburn (Washington Nationals), Batavia (Miami Marlins), Jamestown (Pittsburgh Pirates) and Mahoning Valley (Cleveland Indians) five dates apiece. State College will also welcome the Connecticut Tigers (Detroit Tigers), Lowell Spinners (Boston Red Sox), Tri-City Valley Cats (Houston Astros) and Vermont Lake Monsters (Oakland Athletics) to Medlar Field at Lubrano Park for three-game sets.
The Spikes road slate will also include 28 games against Pinckney Division opponents as well as three-game series against the Aberdeen IronBirds (Baltimore Orioles), Brooklyn Cyclones (New York Mets), Hudson Valley Renegades (Tampa Bay Rays) and Staten Island Yankees (New York Yankees).
