Spikes welcoming "Shermanator" as part of 2019 appearances

Cowboy Monkey Rodeo, Human Cannonball to return this summer

This is the third part of the Spikes' five-part promotional schedule release. Monday's first part detailed the bobblehead roster for the 2019 season, while Tuesday's second part revealed the full slate of giveaways. The remainder of the promotional schedule releases will take place as follows:

State College Spikes fans can look forward to a mix of returning favorites and memorable celebrities at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park throughout the 2019 schedule at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. Chris Owen, who portrayed "The Shermanator" in the 1999 film classic "American Pie," leads the way with an appearance on Party Like It's 1999 Night, with visits from the popular Cowboy Monkey Rodeo and Human Cannonball also on tap this summer.

Owen will be on hand to Party Like It's 1999 as he meets and greets Spikes fans and signs autographs on Sunday, June 30 as part of that night's 6:05 p.m. game. In addition, Owen will also throw out the night's ceremonial first pitch and participate in an on-field contest as part of the night's activities.

The Michigan native, who also held standout roles in other '90s movie classics like "Angus" and "October Sky," portrayed Chuck Sherman, a.k.a. "The Shermanator," in a total of four movies in the "American Pie" series.

Fans can also mark their calendars for another appearance from Tim "Wild Thang" Lepard and Team GhostRiders with the Cowboy Monkey Rodeo on Saturday, August 10.The one-of-a-kind act featuring monkeys riding dogs herding rams has been a staple of Spikes entertainment for several years and will entertain fans throughout the evening.

The Spikes' 2019 schedule is also marked by the return of "The Bullet" David Smith Jr. to fly through the air as the Human Cannonball on Sunday, July 14. Smith's post-game blast off will be presented by media sponsor HAPPY 103, and will also take place on Military Appreciation Night, presented by Lion Country Kia.

In addition, the Spikes have already announced two appearances from Central PA sports legends in conjunction with bobblehead nights this season. Wrestling great David Taylor will make a special appearance at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park to meet, greet and sign autographs for fans when his "World Champion" Bobblehead, presented by The Nittany Lion Inn & the Penn Stater Conference Center Hotel, goes to the first 1,000 fans on Saturday, August 17.

Legendary running back Blair Thomas will also be on hand when his bobblehead, presented by First National Bank, goes to the first 1,000 fans on Friday, July 26.

Individual game tickets for each appearance night, as well as all 38 games on the Spikes' 2019 home schedule, will go on sale for the first time at TicketFest, scheduled for Saturday, May 11 at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.

Fans will be able to watch former Spikes shine in the big leagues at the event as the St. Louis Cardinals, the Spikes' major league affiliate, take on the Pittsburgh Pirates at 2:15 p.m. Gates for the watch party will open at 1 p.m., with free hot dogs, soda and water available for fans of all ages. Alcoholic beverages will also be available for purchase for fans over 21.

TicketFest will feature more family fun as well, with select inflatable games for the kids, raffle and door prizes, ballpark tours, and a free chance to play catch on the field, weather permitting.

The Spikes' slate of fun, affordable family entertainment and future major league stars begins with Opening Night at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, presented by PSECU, against the rival Williamsport Crosscutters (Philadelphia Phillies) on Saturday, June 15, and runs through September 1.
