STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.-The Staten Island Yankees dropped game one of a three-game set to the Hudson Valley Renegades 7-6 on Tuesday night at Richmond County Bank Ballpark.
Hudson Valley (6-5) led for most of the game after they scored five runs in the second inning led by two separate two run singles from Cristhian Pedroza and Hill Alexander.
The Yankees (5-5) responded right away with a Mitchell Robinson two-run home run in the bottom of the inning to make it 5-3, which was his first with the Yankees.
The Renegades added a run in the sixth, but Staten Island scored once in the seventh on an Oswald Peraza RBI single to cut the deficit to two.
In the bottom of the eighth, an RBI single from Ezequiel Duran cut it to one and an error at third base by Luis Arcendo allowed Duran to come around and score the tying run a ground ball by Andres Chaparro.
However, a ninth inning RBI double by Jacson McGowan gave the Renegades the lead for good.
Staten Island will look to get even tomorrow at home in game two of the series with Hudson Valley. First pitch at Richmond County Bank Ballpark is set for 7p.m.
