STATEN ISLAND--The Staten Island Yankees, behind an explosive offensive display, defeated the Lowell Spinners 10-4 to win the rubber game of the three-game set on Wednesday afternoon at Richmond County Bank Ballpark.
Many of the Baby Bomber bats stepped up, but Eduardo Torrealba stood out the most as he went 4-for-5 with three RBIs and two doubles to lead the offense. Canaan Smith had three hits and two runs scored in the game.
Andres Chaparro had a big afternoon as well as the Yankee third baseman went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and Eric Wagaman also had a multi-hit game while driving in a run.
Staten Island got a solid pitching performance from Harold Cortijo who went 5.2 innings giving up three runs and striking out six while picking up his fourth win of the season. Brooks Kriske and Kyle Johnson finished the job out of the bullpen.
The Yankees took two out of three in the series and now head on the road for six games against Aberdeen and Hudson Valley. Staten Island returns home on Aug. 29 for a three-game set against Vermont.
