STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.-The Staten Island Yankees fell to the Brooklyn Cyclones 5-4 on Sunday afternoon at Richmond County Bank Ballpark at St. George.
Brooklyn opened the scoring in the first inning with an RBI single by Luke Ritter, but the Yankees answered with a two-run RBI single by Andres Chaparro to take a 2-1 lead.
Staten Island added runs in the third and the fourth inning with the big hit coming on an RBI single by Josh Smith to make it 4-1 Yankees.
Brooklyn would score runs in the fifth inning and the sixth inning to cut the lead down to 4-3, but the big inning for the Cyclones was the ninth inning when they scored two runs to take a 5-4 with the big hit coming on an RBI single by Jake Mangum.
The Cyclones would hold on to win and with the loss the Yankees will not make the playoffs this season making this the final home game of the season.
However, the Yankees do have one more game in Brooklyn on Monday at MCU Park. After that the Baby Bombers will return to action in June of 2020.
