STATEN ISLAND - The Staten Island Yankees and the New York-Penn League Charitable Foundation are pleased to announce they have partnered with Staten Island Borough President James S. Oddo, the Federation of Teachers, and the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce's "Feeding Our Frontline" Campaign. Most recently, they have donated $5,000 to assist in providing grab and go meals to hospital staffs at Staten Island University Hospital and Richmond University Medical Center. The $5,000 was originally raised in 2018 as a part of a separate initiative created by the Staten Island Yankees and their Senior V.P. of Baseball Operations, Jane Rogers. Prior to the 2018 season, Jane was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. As a way to give back to the community the team sold "99 Rogers" shirts and auctioned off game-used pink jerseys the team wore during one of their home games.

"Thank you to the Staten Island Yankees for continuing to care about the people of our borough, and for being the engaged community partner you are," said Staten Island Borough President James Oddo. "As you, the New York Penn League, and all of Minor League Baseball endure your own challenges, you have not lost sight of the fact that you are part of a local community. We appreciate you and we are grateful for your generosity in helping feed our frontline healthcare workers. Play ball -- soon."

"Many thanks to our friends at the Staten Island Yankees who have stepped up to the plate to support this initiative,” said Linda Baran, President & CEO of the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce. “I would especially like to thank Jane Rogers for her thoughtfulness in donating the monies raised in 2018 to feed our frontline workers during this crucial time."

To further support the "Feeding Our Frontline" Campaign, the Staten Island Yankees have created a weekly online memorabilia auction. All proceeds from the auction will also be donated to "Feeding Our Frontline." To find the link to our auction please visit the Staten Island Yankees website. Each week a new item will be featured.

"As soon as we learned about the Feeding Our Frontline initiative, we wanted to get involved,” said Staten Island Yankees General Manager T.J. Jahn. “Jane right away brought up the money that was raised in 2018 and everyone thought it was a great idea. We are forever grateful for the sacrifices of the frontline heroes and want to help in any way we can. Thank you to the Borough President’s Office, the Federation of Teachers, and the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce for beginning this wonderful initiative."
