SAN JOSE, Ca. – The San Jose Giants scored 11 unanswered runs and collected 19 hits as the Ports saw their three-game winning streak come to an end with an 11-5 loss on Saturday night at Excite Ballpark.

The Ports (38-69) got off to a great start, jumping out to a 5-0 lead after two and a half innings. Stockton took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first when T.J. Schofield-Sam singled to drive home Caeden Trenkle, who singled and advanced to third on a balk and wild pitch.

With four runs in the top of the third, the Ports extended the advantage. Brennan Milone got the inning started with his first career home run, a solo shot to left field off San Jose starter Matt Mikulski, to make it 2-0. Back-to-back singles by Trenkle and Cameron Masterman put runners on the corners, and Trenkle scored on another balk by Mikulski making it 3-0. After back-to-back strikeouts Daniel Susac followed with one of the best at-bats of the season, hitting a two-run homer to left center on the 12th pitch he saw from Mikulski to extend the Stockton lead to 5-0.

The Giants (60-47) began their comeback with a two-run third against Ports’ starter Carlos Guarate on RBI doubles by Aeverson Arteaga and Victor Bericoto. San Jose then cut the Stockton lead to 5-3 when Anyesber Sivira hit his first home run of the season, a solo shot, down the left field line with one out in the third.

With Dheygler Gimenez on in relief in the fifth, the Giants struck for three more runs to take the lead for good. Arteaga drew a leadoff walk and advanced to second on a single to right field by Jared Dupere. After an error on Alexander Campos loaded the bases, Alexander Suarez followed a lineout to third with a sacrifice fly to right field to bring the Giants to within one at 5-4. After the tying run scored from third on a two-out wild pitch, Sivira drove a double off the wall in center to score Bericoto from third base, giving the Giants a 6-5 lead.

San Jose tallied two more in the sixth when Dupere hit a two-out triple off the wall in right center to score Arteaga from first base and Bricoto followed with a single up the middle to increase San Jose’s lead to 8-5. Sivira clubbed a two-run homer in the seventh, and Yorlis Rodriguez hit a solo shot in the eighth to make it 11-5.

The offense was plenty of support for Seth Lonsway (8-2), who took over in the third for the Giants and fired five innings of shutout relief with seventh strikeouts to earn the win. Gimenez took the loss for Stockton surrendering seven runs (four earned) on eight hits in 3.1 innings.

Winners of three of the first five games in San Jose, the Ports will go for the series win in the finale on Sunay at Excite Ballpark with first pitch at 5:00 pm.
